vtiger is a web-based, 100% open source, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. With its enormous flexibility, its functions and modules, vtiger is especially suitable for the operation in mission-critical enterprise environments.

Developed in 2004, by Indian programmers from a "project-fork" of SugarCRM, vtiger soon attracted a very active community of enthusiastic developers.

Over the following years vtiger eventually developed into a mature and stable CRM system. vtiger is based on the PHP server language, using preferably MySQL for database. It can, however, also be used with PostgreSQL or Oracle.

New features or modules can be developed or enhanced, using in house or external PHP programming know-how.

This allows vtiger to be connected to enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, for example, to integrate already existing data into other business-critical processes.
